Math

I teach mathematics, physics, and finance regularly. Subjects taught include competition math, AIME, AMC 8, 10, 12, algebra I, algebra II, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus I, II, AP Calculus AB, BC, linear algebra, differential equations, and AP Physics. I also prepare students for the Math SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT. I also teach financial mathematics and financial derivatives.

I explain mathematics clearly, and in-depth, including the theory and its application. I prove and demonstrate why the equations work.

I also teach mathematics and problem-solving techniques to prepare middle and high school students for mathematics competitions, including the Math Olympiad, AIME, AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, MATHCOUNTS, Math League, and Mu Alpha Theta. My students have obtained excellent results in these competitions.

Specific topics include number theory (remainders and divisibility, Euler’s Phi, the Euclidean algorithm, congruence, Fermat’s theorem, Euler’s theorem, fast exponentiation, ciphers, base numbers, modular arithmetic, etc.), counting and probability (combinatorics, geometric probability, the binomial theorem, power series, and graph theory, etc.), geometry, induction and proofs, functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, conics, analytic geometry and trigonometry, polar coordinates, parametric equations, polynomials, quadratic equations, complex numbers, vectors and matrices, cross products and determinants, inequalities, sequences, and series, etc. calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra.

Finance

I hold an MBA in Finance from New York University, Stern School of Business, and a BS degree in Engineering from Columbia University, School of Engineering and Applied Science. I have a strong background in finance and its underlying mathematics. At NYU Stern, I took advanced courses in finance and financial engineering and know the subjects thoroughly.

I have worked for top banks, including Bankers Trust, Citigroup, and Chemical Bank. Topics covered include financial mathematics and financial products, including the theory and pricing of derivatives, equities, fixed-income securities or bonds, foreign exchange, and commodities. Additional topics include corporate finance, the CAPM model, financial management, project finance, and equity and bond pricing.

I am also familiar with analysis and review of complex Harvard Business School case studies or HBR cases, including financial forecasting, competitor analysis, production and inventory analysis, and financial statement analysis. I am knowledgeable with the valuation of complex products, including pricing of embedded options using the Black Scholes model or Binomial option pricing model, discounted cash flow models, and similar, as well as bond and interest rate analytics, including the pricing of bonds, duration, yield to maturity, and interest rates. I am patient and communicate well and teach intuitively, providing examples and explanations.

Physics

I am an experienced Physics Instructor. I hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Columbia University, School of Engineering and Applied Science. I have taken advanced courses in physics and mathematics and know the subject well. I also teach advanced mathematics and, therefore, can explain Physics and Mathematics in an intuitive manner. I am patient and communicate well, and will do my best to help you understand and master the material.
